When should fibroids be treated or removed?

The decision regarding removal of fibroids needs to be individualised to the patient.
Things I will consider as your gynaecologist are:

  • Where is the fibroid located in the uterus?
  • How large is the fibroid?
  • What are your reproductive wishes?
  • How old are you?
  • What treatments have you tried before?
  • What are your other medical problems and past surgical history?
